Summer Camp 2016

Each year, Troop 78 plans a fun filled calendar packed with challenging and rewarding experiences that provide many opportunities for adventure and advancement. We will be Backpacking, Hiking, Boating, Winter Camping, going on High-Adventure trips, Skiing, attending Summer Camp and much more!

All the information you need to get started can be found here on our web site, including a calendar for the rest of the year, youth and adult boy scout applications, medical form, permission slips, contact information, and information on trips and summer camp.

Meetings will begin at 7:30 PM in the St. Anthony's Church Basement, located on 36 W. Nyack Rd. Nanuet, and last until 9 PM. There will be an pre-opening game starting at 7:15 pm for all that would like to join in, the game will last for a fifteen minutes and the meeting will start promptly at 7:30 pm. The uniform for meetings is the full Field Uniform (Scout shirt, pants, socks, belt, troop neckerchief and appropriate footwear boots or sneakers) please no open toed shoes.

Full Class A uniform is required for all meetings unless otherwise announced.  Class A Uniform is Class A Shirt, Scout pants, socks, neckerchief, belt, paper, pen and scout handbook.

Like all Scout units, Troop 78 has a Committee and Scoutmasters to support the Scouts in getting the best program possible. Parents who want to help out in any way are always welcome. To become a leader, you will give your time, but the potential rewards are enormous. Interested in becoming and ASM, seek out our Scoutmaster for details, Committee members, speak with our Committee Chair.  A prospective leader must be approved by the Troop Committee and the Charter Organization. Leadership training in the BSA is always ongoing, and there other ways help as well. ASMs will have several opportunities for training to increase their knowledge, enhance our program and provide certifications. The Committee functions very much like the board of directors would at any corporation. One of the central themes of Scouting is that its units are led by the Scouts; the adult leaders are there to provide guidance and appropriate supervision. 

The Troop Calendar is subject to change and additions as activities and service projects present themselves.  We aim to provide a well rounded program of scout experiences and community service projects.  Please continue to regularly review the calendar for any changes and opportunities.

Winter Backpacking

The Winter Backpacking Trip is Saturday to Sunday (2/18-19). Due to the skills required, this trip is for First Class Scouts and above.  The permission slip has been posted. Please bring in your permission slips to next week’s meeting.  Thank you.

St. Baldrick's Day

Troop 78 will once again be participating in St. Baldrick's Day. Anybody who would like to sign up can e-mail Sean Doherty at sdoherty@bergencatholichs.org for the details and how to sign up.  The event will be held at the Hennessy Center in Dominican College on March 12.  Saint Baldrick's is an event to raise money for childhood cancer research and treatment.  Therefore, anybody is welcome to sign up and raise money even if they do not wish to shave their heads. 

Pancake Breakfast Committee Meeting

All scouts that were at Thursday's meeting 1/19/2017- received their Pancake Breakfast tickets to sell!! Each scout is asked to sell 10 tickets. If you weren't at the meeting, please see Mr. Negrin this week for your tickets to sell.
